BAKED MACARONI AND CHEESE | |
1 sm. box elbow macaroni (2 c.) 2 1/2 tbsp. butter 2 1/2 tbsp. flour 2 1/2 c. milk 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1/2 lb. American cheese, diced or grated 1/3 c. bread crumbs 1 1/2 tbsp. melted butter Cook macaroni as directed, melt butter in heavy saucepan. Blend in flour. Stir in milk, heat to simmering being careful not to burn. Add seasoning and cheese. Stir until smooth, add drained macaroni and transfer to a shallow buttered baking dish. Sprinkle with bread crumbs mixed with melted butter. Bake 20 minutes in 400 degree oven. Makes 4-6 servings. |
