FARM STYLE BEEF STEW 
Stewing beef, cubed
1 (No. 2) can tomatoes
Peas (optional)
Carrots
Onions, sliced
Potatoes
2 tbsp. fat
Celery (optional)
1/4 c. chopped parsley
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp. thyme
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

Melt fat in saucepan and brown meat. Add sliced onions, celery, parsley, tomatoes, spices, salt and 2 1/2 cups water. Bring to boil, cover and simmer 2 hours. Add other vegetables and simmer. Thicken broth if desired.
