1 1/2 c. starter
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 lg. can peaches, cut up with juice

Mix in a gallon jar or container. Stir every day for 10 days, keep covered with white cloth and rubber band or paper towel.

11th day: Add 1 large can of chunk pineapple and juice. 2 1/2 cups sugar. Stir every day for 10 days.

22nd day: Add 2 (10 ounce) jars maraschino cherries halved & drained. Stir every day for 10 days.

Drain juice from fruit. Makes for 4 starters for friends. Divide fruit into 3 parts. Makes 3 cakes.

MIX FOR 1 CAKE:

1 box yellow Duncan Hines cake mix
1 box vanilla instant pudding (3 3/4 oz.)
1 c. Crisco oil
4 lg. eggs
1 c. chopped pecans
1/3 box raisins, optional

Stir in fruit for 1 cake (drained). Bake in tube pan on 325 degrees for 60-90 minutes.
