2 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. hot water
4 tbsp. lard
2 c. raisins
1 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda

Boil all ingredients together except for flour and soda for 5 minutes. Cool. When cool, add flour and soda; mix well and pour into a greased cake pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes or until it springs back when touched.
