BUTTERMILK CINNAMON BARS 
2 c. sifted, reg. all-purpose flour
1 1/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar (firmly packed)
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 c. flaked coconut
1 egg, well beaten
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla

ICING:

3/4 c. confectioners' sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 to 2 tbsp. cream (enough to make it spreading consistency)

In large bowl mix flour and sugars. Cut in butter as for pastry. Combine 2 cups of this mixture with walnuts and coconut. Press into the bottom of a buttered 9x13x2 inch pan. Set aside.

Combine egg and remaining ingredients and beat until smooth. Stir into sugar mixture. Spread over first layer in pan. Bake at 350 F. for 45 minutes.
