OLD FASHION BEAN SOUP | |
1 lb. dry navy beans or split green peas 1 lb. meaty ham bone or ham pieces 1 to 2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/2 c. chopped celery 2 qt. water 1 bay leaf Soak beans in water overnight. Drain off the soaking water and discard. Combine all the ingredients in the slow cooker. Cover and cook 8 to 9 hours. Remove bone. Cut meat into bite size pieces and return to soup and stir well. |
