NO FAIL PASTRY MIX | |
4 c. all purpose flour 1 tbsp. sugar 1 3/4 c. solid shortening (Crisco or lard, depending on how often you eat it as lard IS better) 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. vinegar 1 egg 1/2 c. water Put flour, sugar and salt into a large bowl and cut in shortening until it resembles coarse crumbs. Beat together in a small bowl, egg, vinegar and water. Add to flour/fat mixture and blend well together. Turn onto a floured board and knead lightly. Divide into 4 equal portions. Rest at least 20 minutes in the refrigerator before using. Each portion can be rolled to make a 9 inch crust. Wrap any remaining portions and freeze up to 3 months. |
