PUNCH BOWL CAKE 
1 (2 layer size) pkg. yellow cake mix
2 cans cherry pie filling
2 (4 serving size) pkgs. instant vanilla pudding, prepared according to package directions
2 (8 1/4 oz.) cans crushed pineapple
2 or 3 bananas, sliced
1 (8 or 9 oz.) carton Cool Whip
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. shredded coconut

Prepare cake by package directions and crumble. Use large, clear punch bowl. Crumble half of cake into bottom, top with a layer of cherry pie filling, then layer of pudding, pineapple, sliced bananas, Cool Whip, pecans and coconut. Repeat layers. Save a few cherries, pecan halves and pineapple bits for a garnish, if desired. Chill if not using immediately.
