OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/3 c. corn syrup (or honey)
1 3/4 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. quick cooking or regular oats
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix sugar, shortening, eggs, and corn syrup. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake until light brown, 8-10 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
