ANGEL CRISPS 
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. Crisco
2 sticks butter
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
4 c. flour, sifted

Cream sugars, shortening, eggs and vanilla. Add well sifted dry ingredients. Form into balls size of walnuts. Dip half of ball in ice water, then in extra sugar. Turn sugar side up. Press down slightly on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Do not over bake. Cookies will be tender so let them rest a few minutes before removing them from sheet so they will not tear.

NOTE: Never use less shortening!
