ICE BOX ROLLS | |
3/4 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 1 tsp. salt 3 or 4 c. flour (self-rising) 1 pkg. or cake yeast Water Put yeast in 1 cup warm water with 1/4 teaspoon sugar. Set aside. Mix sugar, shortening and salt. Pour in yeast mixture. Mix in flour until sticky. Pour in 1 more cup warm water and a little more flour until sticky dough again. Pour in 1 more cup warm water and rest of flour until dough can be handled. Put in bowl, greased top and put in refrigerator to raise. Pinch off rolls when you want them. Let raise. Bake in 400 degree oven until brown, about 15 minutes. |
