HEARTHSIDE LOAF 
1 lb. loaf of unsliced French bread
1/2 c. butter, soft
1/3 c. onion, minced
3 tbsp. mustard
1 tbsp. poppy seed (optional)
3 tsp. lemon juice
A few drops of Tabasco
12 slices Swiss cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheet. Combine all ingredients except cheese; save 3 tablespoons of mixture for later. Cut loaf into 6 to 8 slices, almost to bottom. Place 2 slices of cheese in each slit so it pokes out. Spread mixture on both sides of each slice. Spread 3 tablespoons reserved over top of loaf. Bake for 30 minutes until cheese is melted and loaf is lightly brown.
