3/4 c. shortening 1 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. granulated sugar 1 egg 1/4 c. water 1 tsp. vanilla 3 c. rolled oats 3/4 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda 14 oz. caramels 12 oz. semi sweet chocolate chips 1 (14 oz.) can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk Beat shortening, sugar, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Mix in rolled oats, flour, salt and soda; blend together. Spread 1/2 mixture in bottom of well greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Melt caramels, chocolate chips; add to condensed milk and mix. Spread on top of crust in pan. Spread remaining dough over top. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Spread topping on caramel mix while baking. |
