APPLE PASTRY SQUARES | |
2 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 c. plus 2 tbsp. butter 1 egg yolk plus enough milk to measure 2/3 c. 8 c. sliced apple, extra if desired 2/3 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. ginger (optional) 1 egg white, beaten stiff Mix flour and salt; cut in butter. Beat egg yolk and milk; stir into flour mixture with fork (like a pie crust). Divide into two parts. Roll 1/2 large enough to line a cookie sheet, 15 1/2 x 10 x 1. Dust crust with corn flake crumbs. Mix apples, sugar, and cinnamon; top with crust, seal edges. Brush with beaten egg white. Bake 50-60 minutes at 400 degrees. |
