BRASADELLA (Italian Coffee Cake) 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
Rind of 1 lemon (and its juice)
3 tsp. anise extract
3 tsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. Crisco shortening
3 eggs and 1 egg white (save yolk for top of cake)
2 tsp. milk

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl by hand (do not use mixer), batter will be stiff.

Pour batter into greased 9 inch tube pan. Spread beaten yolk on the top. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 30 minutes.
