1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. light brown sugar
1/2 c. butter or shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 egg
1 or 2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
48 chocolate candy kisses

Combine all ingredients, except kisses; mix with electric mixer at lowest speed. Mix until dough is of consistency to roll into a ball. Make 48 teaspoon-sized balls. Roll each in additional white sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in 375 degree oven. Remove cookies from oven; press candy kiss in center of each cookie just deep enough so that cookie cracks slightly around edge. Yield: 48 cookies.
