PLAIN YELLOW CAKE | |
1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. Crisco 2 eggs Mix and add: 1 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla Easy to make and uses ingredients you always have in the kitchen. Makes 3 nine- inch layers. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes. SEVEN MINUTE FROSTING: 2 egg whites, unbeaten 5 tbsp. water 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. light corn syrup OR 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar Mix egg whites, sugar, water, and corn syrup in upper part of double boiler. Beat with rotary egg beaters until mixed well. Place over rapid boiling water. Beat constantly. Cook 7 minutes. Remove from heat, add vanilla; beat until thick. |
