APPLE KUCHEN 
1 c. milk
1/4 lb. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 cake yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
3 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3 or 4 apples, sliced

Scald milk and add shortening, salt and sugar. Allow to cool and add to beaten eggs. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and add to first mixture. Sift flour and baking powder. Add to mixture and beat well.

Cover and let it rise for 1/2 hour, then put into a large, long, greased cake pan. Top with apple slices. Sprinkle with the following mixture: 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 c. flour 1/4 lb. shortening

Bake at 350 degrees for about 1/2 hour.
