GRANDMOTHER MEARS' EGG CUSTARD PIE | |
4 eggs, well beaten 2 c. whole milk 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 (9 inch) unbaked pastry shell Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Combine eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt; mix well. Pour into unbaked pastry shell and bake at 425 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until a knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean. Serve slightly warm or cold. Yield: 1 (9 inch) pie serving 6 people. NOTE; The center of pie may not be firm when pie is removed from oven, but it will firm up when cooled. Over-baking will make custard watery. |
