BANANA CAKE | |
1 yellow cake mix Make batter as directed, except stir 1/8 teaspoon baking soda into mix before adding liquid. Use only 3/4 cup water and add 1 cup mashed bananas (2 to 3 medium). If desired fold in 1/3 cup finely chopped nuts into batter. Pour into prepared oblong or layer pans. Bake according to box. If desired fill and frost with sweetened whipped cream and sliced bananas. FROSTING FOR BANANA CAKE: 1/2 c. Crisco plus 1/2 c. soft butter (oleo) 1 c. granulated sugar Beat hard for 5 minutes. Add: 2/3 c. evaporated milk (just warm do not scald) Beat on high, adding a little milk at a time. Add vanilla to taste. Frost cake. |
