WORLD'S BEST ONION RINGS 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. beer, active or flat, cold or room temperature
3 very lg. onions (Bermuda or Valdiaias)
1/2 tsp. salt
3 to 4 c. oil

Combine flour, salt and beer in large bowl, mix thoroughly. Cover bowl, allow to set for 3 hours. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Place paper towels on cookie sheet. Carefully pull onions into 1/4 inch slices.

Separate slices into rings set aside. Melt shortening in skillet at least 2 inches deep. Heat to 375 degrees. With tongs dip a few onion rings into batter. Then place into hot shortening. Fry turn once, until golden brown. Transfer rings to cookie sheet, keep warm until all are fried. Serves 6.
