OLD FASHIONED GINGER COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add molasses and egg. Sift dry ingredients together, add to the first part. Chill two hours in refrigerator. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

FROSTING:

2 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
2 egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
