JEWISH APPLE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 c. oil
4 eggs
3 c. flour (wheat or white)
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. orange juice

Add flour gradually. Beat together until batter is smooth. Have 2 pounds apples (McIntosh, Winesap) peeled and sliced. Make a mixture of 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon. Grease and flour large tube pan. Put about half of batter in pan and add layer of cinnamon, apples, and then sugar. Add rest of batter, remaining apples and cinnamon mixture. Dot with butter and sprinkle with orange juice. Bake 1 1/2-2 hours at 325 degrees. Let cool before removing from pan.
