NO MORE BASTING THE TURKEY | |
When the bird comes out of the oven to get carved my family fights over the crispy bacon strips still stuck to the bird! This really is an amazing trick! turkey stuffing bacon strips (enough to cover) Prepare and stuff your turkey as you normally do. When done stuffing it, put it in your turkey roasting pan and cover the entire turkey with strips of bacon, being careful not to leave any areas uncovered. Cook your turkey covered as per usual until a half hour before it is done, then uncover and let the bacon get nice 'n crispy for the last half hour of cooking time. That's it! The bacon does all the basting, gives the skin a beautiful brown crisp, and keeps the turkey very very moist. You can use maple cured, or double smoked for extra flavor as well!
