2 lbs. ground round or lamb 2 c. cracked wheat or bulger 1 med. onion grated mix with meat Salt and pepper to taste Wash the wheat; drain and let set. Have a bowl of cold water to use while mixing ingredients. Mix wheat, meat, grated onion together, keeping moist at all times. Saute 1 pound of coarse ground beef or lamb and onions until brown. Use a 9x13 inch pan, greased with 1/2 stick of butter and oil to cover the bottom. Put 1/2 of mixture into pan. Put saute mixture in the middle, topped off with remaining mixture. Cut into squares and bake at 400-450 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour until brown or done. |
