CHIP OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 c. butter, softened
1/4 c. shortening
1 tbsp. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. reg. or quick cooking oats
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 pkg. (12 oz.) Reese's peanut butter flavored chips or chocolate chips or a mix of each
1/2 c. raisins, optional

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix first 6 ingredients until well blended. Mix in remaining ingredients. Drop dough by rounded teaspoons about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until light brown, 10-12 minutes for soft cookies, 12-14 minutes for crisp cookies. Store tightly covered. Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
