PIONEER BREAD PUDDING | |
2 c. bread cubes 2 c. milk 3 tbsp. butter 1/4 c. sugar 2 eggs Dash salt 1/2 tsp. vanilla OR 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/4-1/2 c. raisins, dates, figs, or nuts Use day-old bread. Cut into 1/4 to 1/2-inch cubes. Place in 1-quart baking dish. Scald milk with butter and sugar. Beat eggs slightly and add salt; stir in warm milk and vanilla. Pour over bread cubes. Set baking dish in a pan of warm water up to level of pudding and bake at 350 degrees 1 hour until knife comes out clean when inserted in center of pudding. Serve hot or cold with cream or jelly. |
