EVELYN'S BUTTER COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. lemon juice
3 c. flour (plain)
1/2 tsp. baking powder

Sift together flour and baking powder. Cream butter, add sugar gradually and cream together thoroughly. Beat egg well and add to creamed mixture. Stir in sifted dry ingredients. Blend in lemon juice. Roll very thin, 1/8 inch. Cut out into shapes with cookie cutters. Put on well greased cookie tin. Bake 13 minutes in 350 degree oven. After cool frost with confectioners' sugar mixed with lemon juice to make thin icing. Before icing dries decorate with colored sugar.
