MERINGUE PEARS 
1 can pear halves
1 egg white
1/2 c. currant jelly

Drain pears well; fill cavities with 1 teaspoon jelly. Beat egg whites until stiff; slowly mix in rest of jelly. For more color, a few drops food coloring may be added. Swirl meringue onto each pear half, flat side. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly browned.
