HOMEMADE MINCEMEAT FOR PIES | |
1 lb. ground beef (browned) 2 lbs. cooked apples (finely chopped) 1 c. currants 1 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed 1 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg 1 1/2 c. raisins 2 c. apple cider 1/2 c. beef broth 1 tsp. cloves Mix and simmer 1 hour, stirring often. Add 3 tablespoons lemon juice after cooking mincemeat. Cool and refrigerate. Enough filling for two 2 crust pies. |
