BUTTER WALNUT BREAD 
2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg, well beaten
1 1/2 tsp. shortening, melted
1 c. buttermilk or sour cream
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped

Set oven to 350 degrees. Into a large bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Stir in brown sugar. Add egg, shortening and buttermilk or sour cream. Mix well, stir in chopped walnuts. Pour into well greased loaf pan. Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes or until toothpick stuck into center comes out clean.
