1 box German chocolate cake mix 1 1/2 sticks butter 2/3 c. evaporated milk, reserve 1/3 for caramels 16 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips 8 oz. pecan halves 14 oz. bag caramels Mix well together cake mix, butter and 1/3 cup milk. Divide in half. Bake 1/2 in greased 13x9 pan at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Then sprinkle chocolate chips over top of cake, then pecan halves over chips. Melt caramels in 1/3 cup milk. Pour over pecans then layer other half of cake mix on top. Bake another 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool. Cut in squares. Store in tight covered tins at room temperature. |
