BANANA NUT BREAD 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 c. flour
6 bananas, mashed
4 eggs, beaten
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
(Spices, optional)

Cream shortening and sugar together. Sift flour, salt and soda together. Add to sugar mixture along with other ingredients. Pour into 2 loaf pans (9x5) greased and floured. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes or until center is done when tested. Can be glazed if desired.
