1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 egg
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. nuts
2 1/2 c. apples, diced
2 tbsp. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and butter; add egg. Mix dry ingredients, then nuts, apples, vanilla and hot water. Use ungreased 8x8x2 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
