ORANGE CAKE 
2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 lb. pecans
1 lb. dates, cut
4 c. flour
1/2 c. orange juice
2 tbsp. orange rind
1/2 tsp. salt

Bake 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees in angel food pan. Check for doneness before time is up.

FILLING:

1 c. orange juice
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. orange rind

Heat orange juice and sugar until sugar dissolves. Let stand while making cake. While cake is hot make slits in top of cake to bottom of cake. Pour in filling and keep making slits until all is absorbed.
