DOTTIE'S RED VELVET CAKE | |
2 1/2 c. flour 1 1/2 c. Wesson oil 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. vinegar 1 c. buttermilk 2 oz. red food coloring 1 3/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tbsp. cocoa (heaping) 2 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 2 tsp. butter flavoring 2 tsp. almond flavoring Grease and flour 3 or 4 (9") round cake pans. Mix eggs, sugar, salt and oil; beat well. Dissolve soda in vinegar; set aside. Sift flour and cocoa together. Add alternately flour, coloring and buttermilk to first mix; beat well. Add all flavorings, beat again. Fold in soda and vinegar mixture. Bake 325 degrees in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Do not over bake. |
