DOUBLE FUDGE CAKES 
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. lard
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 oz. chocolate
3/4 c. boiling water

Grate chocolate; add boiling water and bring to boil. Cook until thick. Cool. Sift flour with baking soda, baking powder and salt. Thoroughly cream lard and sugar together. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add dry ingredients and sour milk alternately and beat well. Add chocolate mixture and vanilla and beat. Pour into 8 x 12-inch greased pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees). Let cool and frost with fudge frosting. Cut in squares. Serves 12 to 16.
