BROWNED BUTTER FROSTING 
1/4 c. butter
3 tbsp. cream or milk
1/4 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted powdered sugar

Lightly brown the butter in a pan over moderate heat. (Watch carefully that it doesn't burn, stirring constantly.) Add milk and vanilla. Stir in sugar and beat until smooth. This is very good on white cake.
