DATE PINWHEELS 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. milk
6 c. flour
1-2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Add milk. Mix dry ingredients together and add to first mixture. Add vanilla.

FILLING:

1 c. nut meats, chopped
2 c. water
1 lb. seeded dates
1 c. sugar

Mix dates, sugar and water and boil for 15 minutes. Add chopped nut meats. Divide dough into 2 parts. Roll 1 part in thin layer. Cover with half of the filling. Roll up and place in refrigerator. Follow the same procedure for second part of dough. When firmly set, slice thin and bake on cookie sheet in 250 degree oven until nice and brown.
