APPLE WALNUT BREAD | |
1 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/8 tsp. allspice 1 c. crushed ready to eat wheat flakes 1/2 c. wheat germ 1 c. broken walnuts 1 egg, slightly beaten 3/4 c. chopped apples 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar 1 1/2 c. buttermilk 2 tbsp. cooking oil Mix and sift dry ingredients; stir in cereal flakes, wheat germ, apples and walnuts. Combine egg, brown sugar, buttermilk and oil; add to mix and stir just enough to moisten dry ingredients. DO NOT BEAT. Turn into a well greased loaf pan, 9"x5"x3". Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. |
