ESCALLOPED CABBAGE 
1 sm. head cabbage (6-8 c.)
2 c. med. white sauce
1 c. grated sharp cheese
1/3 c. crisp bacon, broken
1 tsp. salt
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/4 c. bread crumbs
Butter

Shred cabbage and steam for about 5 minutes. In a buttered baking dish alternate layers of cooked cabbage, white sauce with remaining ingredients except bread crumbs and butter. Top with bread crumbs and dot with butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. May be frozen - and to bake from frozen state add about 30 minutes to the baking time. Serves 6-8.
