"SHONEY'S" HOT FUDGE CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
2 eggs
2 c. plain flour
Dash of salt
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. boiling water

Cream butter and sugar. Add cocoa and eggs, then flour and remaining ingredients in order given. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

SAUCE:

1 sm. pkg. chocolate chips
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 stick butter
1 lg. can Carnation milk

Melt chocolate chips and butter in double boiler over hot water. Add sugar and milk alternately, stirring constantly. Add vanilla. Cook 4 or 5 minutes until thick. Slice cake in squares; split in half. Fill with square of vanilla ice cream; top with hot sauce. Add whipped cream and a cherry and you have a marvelous dessert!
