GRANNY'S BANANA CREAM CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening, softened
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
3 1/2 c. cake flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. ripe bananas
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream shortening, adding sugar gradually. Add eggs and beat for 2 minutes. Then add well mashed bananas and beat for another minute. Sift dry ingredients and mix in thoroughly. Add vanilla.

Bake in 2 well greased and floured layer pans for 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on racks. Frost with Butter Cream Frosting.

BUTTER CREAM FROSTING: Cream 6 tablespoons butter in small mixer bowl. Add 1 box powdered sugar and enough milk to make of spreading consistency. Blend in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
