ORANGE SPRITZ COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 to 2 tsp. grated orange rind
2 tbsp. orange juice
1 tsp. vanilla
1 med. egg, unbeaten

FROSTING:

3/4 c. confectioners' sugar, sifted
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 to 4 tsp. orange juice
1 tsp. finely grated orange rind

Sift flour, salt and soda. Mix shortening with sugars, rind, juice, vanilla and egg. Beat until very light and fluffy. Gradually add flour mixture, mixing well after each addition. Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes. Fill cookie press and press onto ungreased COLD cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned.

FROSTING: Mix all ingredients well until smooth and of frosting consistency, adding a few more drops of juice, if needed. Spoon on cookies. Makes about 6 to 7 dozen.
