DROP COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. nuts (hickory, pecans or walnuts)

Mix shortening and sugars well. Add unbeaten eggs and mix thoroughly. Mix in vanilla. Add dry ingredients and buttermilk alternately, mix well. Stir in nuts. Drop onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until slightly browned.
