1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 c. flour
4 eggs
1 c. shortening or butter
1 can cherry pie filling

Mix butter and sugar in a large bowl and add eggs, one at a time. Beat well. Add flour and extract (vanilla). Pour into 15 x 10 x 1 inch pan. Indent 20 squares with a spoon about 1 inch apart and place 1 heaping tablespoon filling in each square. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes. When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into squares. May use any other fruit filling, if desired.
