SWEET-SOUR WATER CHESTNUTS 
These have a far-eastern flavor.

1 (6 oz.) can water chestnuts (about 24 pieces)
1/2 c. liquid from the chestnuts
1/2 c. vinegar
Brown sugar
12 bacon strips, cut in half

Marinate chestnut pieces for 1 hour in vinegar and liquid. Drain. Spread each half slice of bacon with brown sugar. Roll chestnuts in bacon slices and fasten with toothpicks. Place in shallow pan. Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve hot.
