RICH BUTTER COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream butter. Add sugar gradually, creaming until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, beat well. Sift together dry ingredients. Blend with cream mixture, drop by teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes.
