FRESH COCONUT ICING 
1 1/2 c sugar
1/4 c water
1/8 t cream of tartar
3 egg whites
1 t vanilla
coconut

Boil sugar, water and cream of tartar to soft ball stage (can be picked up when tested in cold water). Beat egg whites. Add sugar syrup to egg whites and beat until thick. Add vanilla. Frost cake then sprinkle with coconut.
