OLD FASHIONED BUTTER COOKIES 
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. double acting baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 unbeaten egg
1-2 tbsp. milk

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cream butter, gradually add sugar, creaming well. Stir in egg, milk and vanilla; mix well. Blend in dry ingredients and chill 1 hour. Roll out on floured board. Cut into shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 5 to 8 minutes until golden brown.
